Japan: Land of Great Natural Beauty

Japan is located in the Pacific Ocean, lying the east of the Sea of Japan, China, North Korea, South Korea, and Russia. It is popularly known as the “Land of the Rising Sun”. The country is blessed with seashores and mountains. It is believed that Japan’s culture has roots in its abundant natural scenery. The beauty of nature is even expressed in Japanese writing and painting. The country’s natural scenery is truly diverse. Mountains and hills make up about 70 percent of the country. Jagged peaks, waterfalls, and rocky gorges provide spectacular scenery. Lakes nestle among mountains or lie in the craters of extinct volcanoes. Thanks to gifts from nature, Japan attracts millions of visitors each year, offering a wide range of attractions, from futuristic sights to beautiful forests, mountains and sea coasts.
